Common Questions
New customers often ask about delivery schedules, ordering deadlines, minimums, and how we handle substitutions or out-of-stock items. We cover all of this during onboarding — there’s always someone on our team available to answer questions and make sure you know what to expect.
Getting started is straightforward. Reach out by phone at 802-291-6100 or email info@provisionsintl.com for a quick walk-through of our products and delivery services — we want to make sure we're a good fit for your business before moving forward.
From there, you'll complete a new account application. We'll review your application, confirm your business is within our delivery area, and, if approved, set up your account and share ordering details. Once everything is in place, you can begin placing orders by phone, email, or through Pepper, our new online ordering platform (coming soon).
All new accounts are subject to review and approval. Submission of an application does not guarantee account eligibility. Provisions International reserves the right to approve or decline any account application at its discretion.
Most accounts are ready to place their first order within about a week — typically five business days to process your application and get your account configured.
Your first two deliveries are COD (cash on delivery). After that, your account moves to credit terms.
We deliver throughout New England and upstate New York. When you reach out to open an account, we'll confirm your location is within our service area before completing your application..
Ordering and Delivering
Mondays are the preferred day to submit orders. Delivery timing depends on your location — specific deadlines vary by route, so your sales rep can confirm the schedule that applies to your account.
Most accounts receive one delivery per week, on the same day each week. Your rep will confirm your regular delivery day when your account is set up.
Yes — minimums vary by account type. Restaurants and farmstands have a $300 minimum; retail customers have a $500 minimum. Your sales rep can confirm the minimum that applies to your account.
We continue submitting a purchase order for the item until it's back in stock.
Products & Catalogue
Every product in our catalogue is selected with our customers' needs and success in mind. We prioritize quality, consistency, and strong producer relationships — and we emphasize local, regional, and distinctive items that bring something genuinely useful to your shelves.
We also look for clear sourcing and thoughtful production practices. If a producer's story and standards align with ours, there's a good chance you'll find them in our catalogue.
Our online catalogue is updated daily with new products and current pricing — it's the most up-to-date way to see what's available. We also publish a printed catalogue and a Local Cheese & Dairy Guide, both updated annually.
Absolutely — that's one of our favorite parts of the job! Reach out to your sales rep any time you're looking for a specific flavor profile, an alternative to something that's out of stock, or a new addition to your selection. We're more than happy to help you find the right fit.
Working With Us
We offer a range of support beyond the weekly delivery. Depending on your needs, that might include in-store demos, warehouse tours, Meet the Makers events, food shows, monthly promotions and flash sales, and signage or labels available on request.
We also support our customers through social media promotion and are always open to finding new ways to help your business succeed. Let us know what would be most useful — we'll figure it out together.
Supporting small and emerging producers is a cornerstone of what we do — it's been central to Provisions' mission since Wendy Hallgren founded the company in 1986. If you know of a producer whose work you think we'd love, send us a lead.
Reach out to our purchasing team directly at purchasing@provisionsintl.com. We're always interested in learning about new producers and will get back to you to discuss whether we might be a fit for each other.
